My Story
As a kid, I was fascinated by computers. I would spend the entire day in front of a computer screen if I could. It got so bad that my parents decided to put a password on our computer to control how much time I spent on it. Or that's what they thought. I was too good with the thing, and a password was not going to stop me.
Every morning, I would wake up before sunrise with a mission: get to the computer.
The computer room was right next to my mom's, who always slept with her door open. Holding my breath to keep quiet, I tiptoed past her room and when I got to the computer room, I carefully turned the handle, opening the door without a squeak, and shut it just as silently.
However, the hardest part was starting up that old, loud chunk of tech; it made all sorts of beeping noises all the fans would spin super loud. Sitting there, I'd pray my mom hadn’t heard all that noise. After a minute or two, when all the startup noises had gone quiet, I'd let out a breath of relief and enjoy the next two hours with a big smile.
Eventually, I would have to sneak back into my room. Lying there awake, I'd wait for my parents to wake up. Then, I’d come out of my room acting tired and groggy, and ask if I could use the computer for a bit.
I just loved computers!!
What is "ChoreTech"
ChoreTech is a creative nod to the Persian word "chartakeh," which translates to abacus—one of the earliest known calculating devices, dating back over 4,000 years.
